Linen's reputation as a "summer fabric" undersells it. With a few adjustments, it works year-round, and how you store and care for it changes with the season.
Spring and summer: linen is at its best here, breathable, quick-drying, and comfortable in heat. Wash as needed; it holds up well to frequent use.
Fall: a mid-weight linen layers well under wool or over a base layer. This is also a good time to check pieces for any repairs needed before they go into heavier winter rotation or storage.
Winter: if you're storing lighter linen pieces, make sure they're fully clean and completely dry before folding them away, any residual moisture or body oil left in storage is what invites must or fiber damage, not the fabric itself. Store folded rather than on a hanger to avoid stretching at the shoulders.
Year-round: keep linen out of direct, prolonged sunlight in storage, which can fade natural dyes over time.
